Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is used to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one address, but to look as being sent from a different one, frequently with the objective to scam the recipient someway. If SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a unique record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers globally receive it. The record features all of the email servers that are allowed to send legitimate messages from an e-mail address within the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and if its sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the message won't be sent and it will be discarded. If you use this solution, it will prevent third parties from sending spam emails which appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you host your domains in a cloud hosting account on our end and we handle the email addresses for them, you will be able to enable SPF protection for all of them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is accessible in a separate section where you will be able to see which domains are already secured. For those which aren't, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection option and manage various things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your e-mails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and to set a rule that messages can be sent only if your domains include our MX records. The last mentioned option is the most secure one, but it can be used when we handle the email addresses for your domains and you're not using a different email service provider. The new records will propagate within one day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in a message using your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection feature is available with all the semi-dedicated servers, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you're able to use this service with ease for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a quite intuitive interface, so you won't need to be tech-savvy to secure your e-mails. You'll only have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be certified to send out emails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be active for the domain that you've selected. As an additional option, we will also allow you to control the outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes even better by allowing emails to be sent only if the domain name involved features our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain name need to be handled here and not by some other company. Thus you'll enjoy even better control and there won't be a chance for any person to forge your e-mails for malicious uses.
