Each notebook or desktop or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software which interacts with the computer hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, and any apps that are installed on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a web server, each and every application runs within the parameters set by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This is valid for both standard site scripts and server-side software such as a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, referred to as guest OS and host OS, so that you will be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer you three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs available and we provide all three of them rather than just 1 since we realize that you might want to install some software with specific requirements for the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there're different software programs you can install on the web server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS if you would like to use one and that's why we offer multiple Control Panels as well. Should you decide that you need to have another OS, our tech support can quickly wipe the current one and install the one that you want. We also offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

In case you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the registration page since we want to give you a wider choice regarding the system environment on the machine as different applications could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and enjoy a reliable and risk-free web hosting service. Based on your choice, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System if the one you have selected at first doesn't meet the requirements of the software that you intend to run. We can also update the OS regularly to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
